Killin IP was founded by Dr. Stephen Killin, a Chartered UK Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and European Designs Attorney with over 25 years experience in the field of intellectual property.

Stephen has an honours degree in chemistry from the University of London, King’s College, where he won the Style Prize for Excellence in Practical Chemistry in 1982, and a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Oxford, Merton College, where his doctoral research related to penicillin biosynthesis. He also has a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the University of London, Queen Mary and Westfield College, and is a Chartered Chemist and Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Prior to setting up his own firm, Stephen was a partner in a London-based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys, where he qualified as a UK and European Patent Attorney in 1995 and worked for many years, following his introduction to the profession in the intellectual property department of an international law firm.

Stephen has considerable experience in intellectual property matters generally, with particular expertise in the areas of chemistry and the life sciences, and he regularly advises clients in relation to pharmaceutical, chemical (organic and inorganic), biotech, life science, materials science, industrial process design and medical device patent matters.
